Personal Update

I wanted to take some time to share a personal update which may or may not affect my ability to take regular orders in the short-term.

In July of this year, I was diagnosed with stage 0 breast cancer. I had surgery in September to remove the in-situ cells, but pathology came back that there were indeed invasive cells present and I required a second surgery. I had that surgery in October and the pathology came back that I have a high HER2+ receptor count and will require chemotherapy in addition to radiation (radiation was the original plan). I begin chemo treatments on November 29 and they continue for twelve weeks. Then radiation begins for another four to six weeks.

My chemo nurse and my medical oncologist encourage me to remain active throughout the course of treatment (within reason), so I plan to continue baking. In fact, I hope to continue to add orders and grow the business during this time. I just may have to ask for a little flexibility depending upon how I feel after each weekly treatment.

I encourage you to place your orders and support me both mentally and financially during this crazy time. It’s what I love to do and I tell people that the kitchen is my “happy place”. There’s no better place to be during a time of adversity!
